Switchwire performs its checks every x seconds. Previously, this was every 60 seconds; however, I found that was too long of a delay. A 60 second delay allowed me to do things in 1 minute bursts: Switchwire kills the program, I restart it. While certain activities can’t be effectively done in 60-second bursts, others, such as websurfing, could be done (though it was frustrating). To eliminate this weakness, I have now implemented variable delays: the delay between checks can now be set to once every 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, or 60 seconds. I have implemented this in both the backend schedule-handler and the frontend schedule-maker.

Today the Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC), provider of pro-bono legal services to non-profit developers and distributors of free and open source software, filed a brief with the United States Supreme Court arguing that software standing alone cannot constitutionally be patented.

In this closely-watched case, the Supreme Court will decide whether the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit was correct in restricting patentable processes to those "tied to a particular machine or apparatus," or which "transform[s] a particular article into a different state or thing," a conclusion which if fully implemented could bring to an end the widespread patenting of computer programs.

I wanted to go to the international conference on semantic web to be held in October 2009 near Washington.  So I try to apply for US visa.  There seems to be no way for a person to apply for US visa without using MS Internet Explorer.  Firefox/Mozilla based browsers don’t work.  In protest to this unfair practice, I have written the following open letter to the Ambassador of United States in India.
