AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, November 19 (RT) — Hein-Pieter Van Braam, self described as “an arrogant viking,” has engaged in a David Blaine-style self-imposed total isolation experiment. The task: to survive a week using all proprietary Software. Van Braam has dubbed it, “The Freedom-Free Week.”
If you need to collect impromptu responses, either from the public or a private list of recipients, Zoho Polls will have you running in no time. This poll was constructed in about 30 seconds, and can be embedded into a webpage, emailed as a link, or subscribed to (RSS feed).
These are links to my favorite free software. After using them for a while, i found that these free software were almost as superior as the premium ones, so that i dont have to buy or download the trial version,
nor i have to find cracks..
There is an interesting article on Martin Lewis’ money saving expert about antivirus and related horrible software. It includes links to some of the best free and paid for software that you can use.
This article describes what each of these malicius software do and how they may effect your computer. Please use this as a guide in defending your PC against attacks.

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) XO-1 laptop
You might consider this Christmas season donating to the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) campaign. If you donate $400, you can get one laptop for yourself to keep, but only if you donate during the brief give one, get one period. Of course, you can always donate without asking for a laptop in return.
Here’s the summary of the Top 500 Supercomputers, broken down by Operating system. Linux only has 87.8% of the Top 500 supercomputers. But it really isn’t fair to compare Windows and Linux, after all, Linux cost 10.8 billion dollars to develop, and Windows development team probably only had a budget of a couple of billion dollars or so. Poor Bill Gates…
Here’s a list of a few of the reasons I think you might want to take a look at Ubuntu. Thanks to the Ubuntu UK Podcast episode 10 for originally inspiring this post.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Check Point Software will offer the ZoneAlarm Pro software package for free for 24 hours, in celebration of Check Point’s 15th anniversary, a company spokeswoman said Friday.

Have a look at this little puzzle, the code below simply prints the names of all the entries in the ACL of a database, but it doesn’t work unless you uncomment the commented lines
Sub Initialize
Dim db As New NotesDatabase("", "acltest1.nsf")
' Dim acl As NotesACL
Dim entry As NotesACLEntry
' Set acl = db.ACL
Set entry = db.acl.GetFirstEntry
While Not entry Is Nothing
Print entry.Name
Set entry=db.acl.GetNextEntry(entry)
Wend
End Sub
So accessing the ACL through db.acl.GetFirstEntry returns nothing, unless you have stored a handle to the ACL. The odd thing is you don’t have to access it via the stored handle, db.acl.GetFirstEntry magically starts working. Has anyone got a rational explaination for this?
Thanks to Kim Cofino I learned of Green School in Bali, Indonesia. Kim linked to their enlightening slideshow describing alternative sources of energy, the use of bamboo and volcanic rock to build essential structures, their organic permaculture system, the extraction of methane from cow manure for fuel, and other fascinating endeavors.
